World Superbikes Race 2 Nurburgring Print E-mail

Noriyuki Haga - photo by Mike EvansNoriyuki Haga won the 2nd race of the day in World Superbikes at the Nurburgring Germany.

Looking to show he still has what it takes to win as he looks for a job for next year Nitro Nori was not to be caught.

Carlos Checa starting from 3rd took the early lead followed closely by Haga who got a good start from the 2nd row with Jonathan Rea close behind in 3rd.
Checa held the lead till lap 4 when Haga got passed on the exit of turn 1 while behind Cal Crutchlow was fighting with Max Biaggi for the 4th with the Britain getting the better of the Italian on lap 5.

Just behind them Leon Haslam was closing fast and found his way past Biaggi when the Aprilia rider ran wide in turn 1 whilst trying to pass Crutchlow. This held the Yamaha rider up enough to allow Haslam through into 4th.

On lap 9 Carlos Checa crashed his Ducati out of 2nd place leaving Haga with a comfortable one second lead over Jonathan Rea, with Haslam and Crutchlow fighting behind for 3rd place.

Haga continued to lead to the chequered flag with Jonathan Rea coming homing in 2nd with Haslam holding off Crutchlow for 3rd. Haslam's ride was particularly brave given he was racing after dislocating his thumb and tearing ligaments in his knee after his high side accident in race 1.  by Mike Evans Girlracer magazine
