Tom Chilton, Mat Jackson and a number of other drivers are proving they can keep a steady hand on the paintbrush as well as the steering wheel by drawing and signing pictures of their cars, in a novel fundraiser for HiQ’s official charity. Organised by Samantha Wilcox, head BTCC reporter at Girlracer Magazine, drivers have been putting things in perspective ahead of the crucial final round of racing at Silverstone on October 16. Fans visiting Silverstone are now being urged to visit the HiQ pink trade stand to view the pictures and make a donation into a charity auction in return for a chance to win a book containing all the images and accompanying images by Girlracer photographer, Marc Waller. The arty initiative is a colourful addition to an action packed line-up of fundraising efforts from HiQ, who will be boasting a pink presence for the final race weekend of the season. HiQ’s pink ladies will again be making their presence felt around the grandstand and paddock areas, while Project Pink caps and headwear will be given away in return for donations to the charity. And as if that wasn’t enough, Silverstone will witness the crowning of HiQ’s pink grid girl competition, with our winning candidate donning the iconic pink race suit and taking up a spot on the grid for one of Team Aon’s three drivers. Samantha said: “We have seen the work that HiQ carries out for Breast Cancer Care and we wanted to leave a lasting impression from Girlracer in some way. “What better way than to get the drivers to draw their own cars in one-off pieces of artwork that will mean a great deal to the fans of the series,” HiQ’s marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: “We would just like to thank Sam for pulling all this together and creating a competition that we are proud to be associated with. “She has done an amazing job issuing the artwork challenge to the drivers and looking at their responses, they haven’t done too badly either! “Thanks to the never ending generosity of the BTCC fans, we have been able to edge closer to our £100,000 target and we look forward to seeing them all at Silverstone.” Worth Checking - Motoring news - Road Tests
