One was down in Kent at Brands Hatch then the other British Superbike championship event was up country at my local circuit Cadwell Park. Your local event is normally the one you look forward to the most but if I’m honest with you, we weren’t looking forward to the BSB round at Cadwell Park. This is how it unfolded… The practice day was a wash out. The weather was really against us. I mean hail storms, really? Qualifying day we spent ages trying to solve an electrical problem that took a bit of finding. The lack of decent track time left me in 28th place on the grid for the following day's race. I enjoyed morning warm-up. The bike felt good and was behaving itself and so that made me feel good. The race didn’t make me as happy. My start was poor and as a result I got pushed wide on the first corner. I fought back but could only manage to recover a few places finishing in 23rd position. It’s always good to cross the finish line but it wasn’t the result we’d hoped for. Now the Brands Hatch meeting was a whole different story. The full GP circuit is awesome. I’d never done it before so it was a very steep learning curve but I relished every lap and every time I went out on track, in both the practice and the race, I got faster and faster. The race was great and I finished just outside the points in 18th place. Although this wasn’t my best finish my personal progression and the team’s progress was what made it so good as it had been entirely positive. So I’m really looking forward to returning there for the last round of the championship. Thank you for all your support, it means a lot to me, maybe see you at the next round? Sam
