Starting from pole, Kris Heidorn claimed a light-to-flag victory, his first of the season, with a four-second margin over fellow Volkswagen Junior Jann-Hendrik Ubben, who held off a very determined Mark Blundell to finish just four hundredths of a second ahead in second place. Blundell, returning to race at the Kent circuit for the first time in 20 years and competing in a front wheel drive racer for the first time ever, filled the final podium position, and took the coveted title of top finishing ‘Legend’. After qualifying sixth, Herbert made good progress through the field in the opening laps and battled closely with Blundell throughout the race. Using the additional 50 PS power boost offered by the push-to-pass system on the 225PS Scirocco R-Cup racer to his advantage early on, he moved up as far as third before eventually finishing fifth. Formula 1 commentator Martin Brundle returned to the cockpit of the Scirocco R-Cup after his podium finish at the season opener in Hockenheim, and a strong race saw him cross the line seventh overall and take third place in the Legends category. Five time Le Mans 24-hour winner, Derek Bell completed the field of Legends, finishing 22nd. The trophies were presented to the winning drivers by former Formula 1 World Champion and current President of the British Racing Drivers Club, Damon Hill, and former F1 driver, Perry McCarthy.
