Matiss KarroRound six of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship proved to be a challenging event for the MVR-D Suzuki Team at the weekend, as Matiss Karro finished 10th overall after a pair of top-ten finishes and a DNF.

In what was not expected to be a great round for the young Latvian, due to the grassy nature of the Farleigh Castle track and his preference for sand, Karro rode impressively, starting well in the opening race by gating in second spot, before a race-long battle with Elliott Banks-Browne ended in a clash while making a move for third. Remounting, Karro pushed on, catching the pack but had to settle for fifth at the flag.

With the second race red-flaged while the RM-Z250 rider was in third, a disappointing restart saw Karro get caught up in a first-corner crash, before technical gremlins forced retirement.

Determined to end the day on a high, Karro pushed through the pack from a 12th placed start in race three, moving up the order to fourth before a damaged radiator hose forced him to slow, allowing two riders to pass in the closing stages to take sixth place.

Matiss Karro commented, "That was a tough day of racing. I felt really good on the bike and in the opening race I was optimistic of a podium finish before tangling with Elliott. The second and third races were just dogged by bad luck really, so at least I know that I had the pace."

In MX1 Carl Nunn suffered a torrid time, after gating poorly and struggling to make any progress forward in each race, finishing the three races outside of the top-ten.

Team manager, Mark Chamberlain, commented,"Despite less than great results, Matiss really impressed me this weekend. We didn't expect great things from Farleigh Castle due to its grassy nature, but he rode incredibly well and despite not being able to turn his speed into great results, it was probably his best ride of the season in my opinion. Carl on the other hand is struggling at the moment, but it's more a confidence thing rather than set-up issues, so I hope we can turn this around as the season moves on."
