A new museum that celebrates the life of Enzo Ferrari, the iconic company he founded and of course the legendary cars is set to open on March 10th in his birth city of Modena, Italy with an exhibition titled “The origins of the Myth.” The 18 million euro museum complex will span 5000 square meters of floor space and will house both permanent displays and temporary exhibitions. As one would expect, the stars of the exhibition in the new gallery will be the cars themselves from renowned collections and museums and exhibited as works of arts. The cars will be surrounded by curvilinear showcases containing historic documents, objects and memorabilia along with original audio-visual footage. The “Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari” will be overseen by the Fondazione Casa di Enzo Ferrari in partnership with the Ferrari museum in Maranello. The project started with the restoration of the house in which Enzo Ferrrari was born in Modena in 1898. To this has been added a new building that features a distinctive yellow aluminium roof, the colour chosen as it represents the symbol of the city of Modena and also the colour chosen by Enzo Ferrari as the background to the Prancing Horse, the iconic trademark of the company that bears his name.
