Why you should love James May Print E-mail

James MayWhy shouldn’t you love James May? He’s probably the least divisive of the TopGear presenters, and he’s everyone’s ideal of the classic eccentric uncle, beavering away in the potting shed as occasional puffs of smoke accompany crashes and bangs. Captain Slow can usually be counted on to pick the wrong car for the challenge – that racing Aston, anyone? – and he’s been on the receiving end of countless mean but funny pranks courtesy of Clarkson and Hammond. But that’s not why you should love him.

The latest episode in a fabulous series that has seen him menace Britain with all manner of over-sized toys focused on bring racing back to Brooklands. Yes, you read that right – for the first time in 70 years, the full Brooklands track was used for racing. The fact that he did it with Scalextric cars makes it even better.

Feast your eyes on the clip below. If you’re in the UK, the full show will be repeated this weekend on BBC2 (6pm Sunday). Also for UK readers only (sorry!), here’s the iPlayer link:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00p1dn4/James_Mays_Toy_Stories_Scalextric/
