In his office Afzal Kahn puts down the phone to Boyzone’s Keith Duffy and and picks up another call waiting from the X Factor’s Louis Walsh. It could be a scene straight from the Hollywood hills but this is no LA story for it is a cold day in May and we’re on the outskirts of Bradford where one man has worked tirelessly to build up a business that in the past 20 years has revolutionized the motor industry. Welcome to Project Kahn, the design based automotive company, led by creative visionary Afzal Kahn who turns high quality, prestige production cars into stunning bespoke vehicles. Kahn’s dynamic approach and stunning results have won an impressive and expanding client-base. Premier League football celebrities including England Captain John Terry, David Beckham, Landon Donovan, Peter Crouch, Michael Essien, Kieran Richardson, and many others have acquired Project Kahn conversions. Actress Daryl Hannah and cult Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino handpicked a bespoke Project Kahn Range Rover to drive in the Gumball rally. Afzal’s philosophy remains unchanged from the day he started out and that is to create the ultimate in design and a masterpiece in automotive design. So why is Afzal Kahn the designer of choice for celebrities and discerning customers alike? Well, the answer is simple, celebs and high end customers want something a little more exclusive from an already exotic vehicle, and Project Kahn provide styling packages more often referred to as the “bespoke touch” combining luxury perfectly, with precision quality via a complete quilted leather interior in perforated nappa, carbon fibre and much more. By buying one of Kahn’s Range Rovers, what you get is the opportunity to really make it your own – just as we all like to do with our own vehicles, whatever they may be and however much (or little) we spend. This opportunity to express one’s individuality does lead to some particularly outlandish requests. One Kahn customer decided she wanted an all-white interior and exterior, despite the fact she had sons who played rugby. Practical? I don’t know. Maybe she also bought an old One Ten for rugby-taxi duties. But you can have whatever you want. You could, for example, have an exterior the colour of your jeans and an interior with seats the same shade as your T-shirt. You could change the colour of the clock, or ask for diamonds to be studded around the clock bezel.
“Our select consumers own distinctively styled cars and enjoy a great deal of motoring supremacy,” said the principal British designer. “I intend to put the British motor industry back on the map. The company’s ethos is all about British styling. We make bespoke tailored vehicle solutions for clients who want to break free from the conformities of standard manufacturers. “Other people can do all that if they wish. For me, it’s about meeting people who are creative and talented, coming up with fresh ideas and developing new tactics and concepts that can take my company forward.” Afzal explains how hundreds of thousands pounds are spent in rigorous research and product development. “Why settle for what’s available?” “Every product I design whether it’s an interior, timepiece or body kit it’s designed to make a statement in itself. I will not launch a product until I am totally satisfied. Furthermore, a great deal of time, research and capital is invested when it comes to the production process. “To dare to be different in today’s society shows great passion, and I have a lot of time for people who share the same philosophy.” And with that, Afzal picks up another call. Don’t bet against it being David Cameron asking the man himself for advice on how to save the British Motoring industry. Worth Checking - Motoring news - Road Tests
