He managed to hold off fellow Italians Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone as the Ducati riders took second and third position.

After leading the race and falling foul of a four way race win battle, Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo had to settle for fourth. After a terrible start and dropping all the way back to last place saw current MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez manage to climb his way back through the field to finish fifth. Spain’s Dani Pedrosa was six while Britons Cal Crutchlow claimed seventh, he was followed by fellow Englishman Bradley Smith on his Tech3 Yamaha machine.
