I have been racing Jaguars since 2002, for six years
and this season finished fourth in the Championship
having raced my 'Gulf' 4.0 litre modified car and my
5.8 litre modified V12 (red and gold) in two different
classes. The highlight this year was an overall win
at the new Anglesey circuit and the lowlight a bent
V12 at a wet Cadwell Park. Four, second places and two
thirds on the podium was not enough to emulate my Championship
winning season of last year.
The ‘Gulf’ car having been lent to several
other drivers (as at Brands) has now been sold and the
V12 will soon be up for sale as I have an even better
V12 waiting in the sideline; watch this space next year.
I have to thank my sponsors RH Insurance and Jaguar
Classic Parts for their support this year
I also continue to write for Jaguar World Magazine
(race reports and my own ‘our cars’ column)
which all helps to bring in the pennies, as well as
work in the NHS. I also conduct talks and presentations
around the UK to car clubs or other groups interested
to hear about a woman, successfully racing in a mans
world. Next year I already have an invite to visit the
US to entertain our American cousins.
Next year I hope to improve on this years performance
with my new V12, rebuilt following an accident at Brands
in 2005. This car should put out about 420bhp and almost
as much torque so watch out boys.
I aspire to move up into other National series, but
as ever finding the support is the hardest thing to
do. I also aim to compete in my XJ-S in other series
next year and have another go at the Birkett. The car
is quite an old girl (1975 vintage) a bit like me, but
there is plenty of go in her (a bit like me too!).
