Annette developed her fascination with racing early on. Her parents took her to local racetracks as part of their family outings when her Dad worked on a racecar as a crew member, and Annette would beg to ride in the passenger side of the racecar during the practice run. She was flatly denied – given she was only 3 years old – but it only spurred her on further, as then all she talked about was growing up to race cars!

In 1990, at the age of 9, Annette attended the very first Vancouver Molson Indy. That was when she found out that race car driving could be career, not just a weekend hobby, and made up her mind that she was going to be a professional race car driver.

Later that same year, Annette’s parents took her to a Quarter Midget racetrack - a small type of racecar for children that ran in an oval configuration on asphalt. Annette’s parents purchased her first racecar for $750 on a payment plan

After accomplishing many wins, podiums, and championship standings with Quarter Midgets, Annette, at age 16, moved up a rank into Mini-Sprint racing. These cars were larger and ran on an oval configuration, but on dirt. The year she started racing these cars in the US, she was the only female North of California and West of Montana that was racing any class in this type of racing – from 410 full size sprinters, to little 250cc micro sprints. In her rookie year, she earned 5th place points in the championship out of a 38 car field, Annette also compted in sports cars, ice racing, and karting after Mini-spriniting adventures. After competing in Mini-Sprints, she broadened her racing experience by competing in Sports Cars, Karting, and the occasional Ice Race. With both Sports Cars and Karting, Annette claimed Regional championship standings.

From a racing perspective, the first half of 2005 was a great learning experience. Annette had taken a driving position with a local stock car team during that time, but after finding out the hard way that the team and racecar were not adequately prepared, she abruptly resigned. This is a dangerous sport, and given the risk and sacrifices you make to be a driver, you need a professional team behind you. And you must be a professional, inside and out, on and off the track.

Annette has always believed that “luck” is when preparation meets opportunity, so she has been re-creating her marketing materials and begun positioning herself for things to come. She is currently looking at re-locating to Indianapolis and starting her professional career from there.

In July of 2005, a TV Show titled Girl Racers, which featured Annette and her sponsorship struggle through 2004, was broadcast across Canada. The show was also purchased by Biography, and was broadcast in the fall of 2005 on Biography Channel throughout the US.

Annette has always believed that “luck” is when preparation meets opportunity, so she has been re-creating her marketing materials and begun positioning herself for things to come. To secure the much needed personal capital to pursue this career (in addition to corporate means), she has successfully started a trucking company with her dad in the oil & gas industry and is managing the growth of that venture."
