Its Sunday the 31st July, I was up at 6am preparing
to go to one of the biggest car shows in the country
– TOTB4 at Elvington Raceway near York.
For those who do not know TOTB is an event sponsored
by Redline that is now in its 4th year, TOTB standing
for Ten Of The Best meaning ten of the best of every
car club in the UK – Skyline’s from GTROC
& Skylineowners, Evo’s from MLR, Impreza’s
from SIDC, 200+ club, Viper owners etc etc.
As this event has evolved it has gone from strength
to strength becoming pretty much the top modified
car competition along the way. This year three individual
events were held – Quarter mile drag, Top speed
and a Handling time attack. Each of these was broken
down into separate groups being Front wheel drive,
Rear wheel drive and Four wheel drive with a points
system being awarded upon placement for an overall
for the day for individual driver and club.
Many high-powered cars turned up for the day from
1000+bhp Skyline’s and Supra’s, a 900bhp
turbocharged Viper with even a Chevy engined old school
Ford Granada.
The weather for the day turned out well with no rain
even though it threatened to on occasions but was
not so warm that intake temperatures were raised to
high, as was the case at Japshow at Santa Pod. There
were so many highlights on the day that I will only
list a few;
MLR annihilating everyone on the handling course,
Keith Cowie’s R32 Skyline running a 9.3s quarter,
Turbocharged Viper topping out at 200.2mph,
High performance cars as far as the eye could see.
