RS owners club National Day by Wendy

Phew! What a scorcher! You couldn't have hoped for better weather for the 25th Anniversary of the RS Owner's Club, held a Donnington Race Track.

As with previous years there was a good showing of the 'Blue Oval'.With this year being the Silver Anniversary the infield played host to one of the finest displays in RSOC history, with 25 examples of each RS ever made, right from the MK1 Escort to the Focus RS. Some even travelled from as far away as Holland and Belgium.

This event is one of the best organised shows I've been to with something for everyone, from kiddie's Focus Rally simulators and passenger rides in an RST, to the ever popular track action.

There was a raffle to win a either a MK2 RS2000 or a MK6 RS2000 4x4. 1st place had first choice and 2nd got whichever was left. My 7 year old daughter had her fingers There was a raffle to win a either a MK2 RS2000 or a MK6 RS2000 4x4. 1st place had first choice and 2nd got whichever was left. My 7 year old daughter had her fingers crossed all day hoping we'd win the MK2! There were many visiting clubs represented. Strangely enough, they were all Ford clubs!! I was with the Mondeo Enthusiasts Group, this being the second year we have been invited to take part.

With plenty of track sessions throughout the day there was ample opportunity to see someone spin off! A mix of Cossie's, Mexico's and RS2000's were seen to be flying round the track as though the stig was driving them! I spoke to one driver whose race car had broken the previous day. Not to be deterred, he took a standard MK3 Mondeo TDCi on track. He was pleasantly surprised with the speed but the handling wasn't a patch on his race car!

Also spotted on track was Renton, editor of Redline. I tried to get to speak to him but he had too many fans around him (like flies round.........) maybe if I'd flashed my 36D's at him he'd have noticed me!!!
There were even some non-fords taking to the track including Scooby's and BMW's plus an MR2 and even a Nova! Which unfortunately ended the day on it's roof.

Another track display included a small race with old skool F1 cars
And a blisteringly quick Transit Van!! Check out the air intake! It would have to be checked for wild animals!
I spotted a couple of Mustangs hiding among the bountiful trade stands. The blue one is Rouse prepared!!! That has got some poke!!

The new WTCC Focus made an appearance too.As did the new Focus ST
All in all this was a spectacular show with beautiful weather to compliment it!
Here's to another 25 years!!!
