Sunday the 3rd October 2005 saw the end of the Japanese
performance car season come to an end at Santa Pod
Raceway. Japshow competition has one main aim –
who can run the most competitive quarter mile split
down into car categories;
The Pro’s
Run What You Bring (RWYB) –
Class A – Nissan / Datsun / Infinti
Class B – Toyota / Lexus
Class C – Honda / Acura
Class D – Mitsubishi / Proton
Class E – Subaru
Class F – Mazda
Class G – Suzuki / Daihatsu / Isuzu
Also over in the Meguiar's Show Zone, the best Jap
show cars in the UK lined up to compete for the best
of show trophy.
The RYWB quarter mile shoot out is simple –
drive as quickly as you can for ¼ mile and
whoever crosses the line from the set Class fastest
wins. However the Pro competition was slightly different,
1st there were qualifying runs to determine who would
face who, then a sudden death 2 car drag race until
an overall winner was determined.
Apart from the racing there was plenty of other entertainment
for spectators including Stunt displays from Russ
Swift, Drift Demo’s, Jet and Drag car runs plus
numerous stands from traders to car clubs.
Altogether a cracking end to the Jap car season!
