This was Girlracer’s first track day, and what
better place to hold it then the famous Brands hatch
circuit in Kent. We were joined by the Discovery channel
who would be filming everyone on and off the track.
The day started in the classroom with a track instructor
who went through all the do’s and don’ts
on safety on the track, with all that taken on board
we headed onto the famous track.
We had a line up of around fourteen cars, the first
3 laps we followed the pace car, who showed us the
race lines to be take when going at speed, at the
end of the third lap the pace car pulled off into
the pits and we were let loose.. it was like opening
the gate to a field of crazy bulls who had just seen
red!!!! The adrenaline kicked in as the speed picked
up, the pressure was on and everyone was competing
for space and positioning, the excitement and pressure
was enhanced due to the fact there were a few hundred
spectators there watching.
Everyone held their own on the track and performed
very well with no accidents or incidents. We raced
for around 15 laps, while Discovery channel filmed,
at the end of the session we were lined up on the
starting grid in formation for two race starts, for
film purposes. This was very exciting, everyone in
formation revving engines watching the famous grid
lights … Red, red , Amber .. amber.. GREEN….
And off everyone scrambled for position before hitting
the first corner.
Overall it was a top day, the weather was great and
everyone had a great time. We would like to thank
everyone who came down to take part; we would also
like to thank Brands Hatch for being such excellent
hosts and for looking after us on the track, and off
course the Discovery channel who were such good fun
to be with.
The program is due out in September, and we will
of course be looking to run another track day.
