Tell Us More:
It all started as a youngster addicted to speed
racing Go-Karts and Auto Grass with my family.
I loved it, but I had a bad crash once that broke
all the bones in my hand. The doctor suggested
that I take up a different sport, one requiring
the use of my hands as rehab, so I thought I would
give mountain biking a try. I loved it instantly!
My mum was the one that really got me into racing.
She signed me up for a Mountain Bike Skills Clinic
through the British Cycling Federation. While
I was there I learned a ton about my bike and
riding and I recieved an entry for my first local
race.
Everything took off from that first race since
I loved the speed and technical requirements of
Downhill, and I loved the feeling of winning my
1st ever race! My success and racing career just
took off from there. I placed top 10 at my first
World Cup and top 5 at my 2nd, so I figured this
must be what I was meant to do!
Anything else:
Yeah, Thanks to my family for all the support
over the years. Both of my parents were a huge
help when I was still a junior racing. They came
with me every race weekend and set up the family
camper van to support me and make racing affordable.
My father even went one step further - when the
time came to race my 1st National Championships
I didn't have a full suspension bike that would
get me to the podium so my dad took matters into
his own hands and we worked out designs together
and he built me my first proper DH race bike.
The best part is I WON that National Champs on
our home made bike!
They are both huge supports still of my career.
Thanks Mum and Dad.
