Simple and effective office exercises

1. Use a core ball instead of a chair. Doing this will have numerous benefits. Firstly it helps your posture. Good posture is a great way to look slimmer as you hold tummy in and look taller. By sitting on a core ball you engage your core muscles at all times meaning they are constantly in use. In addition you can also do any number of exercises without the boss noticing such as leg lifts.

2. Stand up and do lunges or squats every time you answer the phone. Yes your colleagues might think you’ve gone a little crazy but they’ll be the envious ones when you develop buns of steel.

3. Go for a gossip. Aim to wander round your office at least four times a day. Doing this for just five minutes at a time means you’ll rack up 20 minutes of exercise and barely notice, whilst catching up on the office gossip.

4. Suck in your tummy. Draw your tummy button in toward your spine and hold for 15-20 seconds but don’t hold your breath. This will tighten your abdominal muscle and deep core muscles which control your posture and support your lower back. Do this 10 times an hour and you’ll begin to notice the difference.

5. Squeeze in your pelvic floor. Not just for Pilate’s fans, also an important exercise which strengthens core muscles benefiting all the other exercises you do. Draw the tummy button slightly towards the spine and imagine you are trying to stop urinating mid flow drawing the pelvic floor muscle up. Again 10 times an hour will make a noticeable difference.
