TIme to time our bodies need a little boost, normally
as the year draws to an end we often find our energy
levels slipping as our bodies try to prepare themselves
for the Christmas party onslaught, catch up with work
deadlines and prepare for a much needed holiday. At
times, having control over our energy levels can be
out of our hands. Genetics, nutrition, sleep habits
and emotional stress can have significant influence
over the way we feel. But there is one thing we can
do and control ourselves that will play a huge part
in increasing our energy levels... EXERCISE!
Doctors are now prescribing exercise as an alternative
to medicine for illnesses such as chronic fatigue,
insomnia and depression, because it works. The link
between physical fitness and energy is strong, and
if incorporated into our daily routines can make dramatic
improvements to the way we cope with stress and with
the way we feel on a daily basis as well as build
immunity and metabolism.
Getting the body moving with regular exercise will
help promote oxygen to the brain, encouraging greater
blood flow which will help improve mental alertness
and energy. Not only will exercise improve oxygen
and blood flow, but it will also help with capillary
generation and circulation; both vital in ensuring
that the body and mind feel good.
We have all heard how important metabolism is to
building fitter, stronger bodies and assisting in
the process of burning calories and losing weight.
The best way to build metabolism is through varied
exercise. Resistance training will help build muscle,
which in turn will increase your metabolism and will
assist with burning calories even while you are resting.
A strong body will also encourage a strong immune
system, thus helping to stave off illnesses and boost
energy levels.
Exercise is also a perfect way to relieve stress
which will again help with energy levels. Incorporating
even just 15 minutes of movement into your daily routine,
will help relieve your mind of the daily pressures
and assist in freeing up some "head space".
So, when you do return to work, or attempt to think
through a problem, your mind will be clear, you will
feel energised and ready to take on the next challenge.
The benefits of a consistent exercise regime are
almost endless. If performed regularly and effectively,
exercise will help you in many areas of your life.
You will see improvements in your stress levels and
immunity, you will notice changes in you appearance
and your mental well-being and will inevitably feel
a boost to your energy levels.
