Introducing to GR...Roxy snowboarder Aimee Fuller Print E-mail
Aimee Fuller at Roxy summer Camp 08 by Josh KnoxI found my passion for extreme sports at the age of 4! My dad bought me a small 50cc quadbike and I used to ride around the garden at any given opportunity.  I started racing motorbikes at the age of 6 and I came 2nd in the girls British Championships in Bodmin Cornwall in 1998. I got into Motorcross because of my Dad and my Grandad and aside from Motorcross I was really into skiing. I used to Ski most Saturdays at Bromley Dry slope and I loved it!

Aimee Fuller SnowboarderI got into Snowboarding when I moved to the Washington DC, USA in 2003 and at the age of 12 I started to get hooked on the sport, going away every other weekend to the slopes in Pennsylvania with school friends. I started doing a few small local comps when I was 15, which I really enjoyed. In the summer of 2007 I went to Mt Hood Oregon, and it all kicked off from here, I learnt so much in such a small space of time, which really enabled me to progress.

I was talent spotted by Roxy rider Erin Comstock at Mt Hood, and now, 1 year down the line I am riding for my sponsors Roxy, Vans, E2E.  Last year I also became part of the GB Junior team.  I am the only girl on the team which is kind of hectic, but its good fun as I push my riding when I am with all the guys. I started competing competitively last year and I achieved some really good results. I  won 3 out of the 4 disciplines at the British Championships.  I also came 2nd in the World Rookie Fest finals and 5th at the Burton European open Junior jam.

Not just a snowboarderRight now I am at home! I am getting in some dry land training before I next go away at the End of February. At the moment I am focusing on Interval training which is intervals of changing speed.  This is a good source of training as it provides you with explosive strength and continuous endurance which is needed within a snowboarder.  In May I will be doing my A Levels and after I finish school I have plans to travel with the GB Freestyle team.  At the start of the season I travelled with the GB team to Breckenridge Colorado for 2 weeks for some early season training aswell as Hintertux Austria. I have plans to do a few competitions this year, some of the Burton Am Tour, the British Championships and the World Rookie Fest.

snowboarding is one of this girls many talents!

Thumbs up for Aimee

For those girls that are interested in getting into snowboarding, give it ago, go up to your local dry slope or snowdome or if you lucky enough to go away to real snow, have fun with it and you will progress. Ride with friends as you will all push each other to improve. Even if you can't get to the slopes, try something new like surfing or skateboarding as the dynamics are very similar so its all good practice.

I still ride some motorcross now for fun here in Belfast, but its not my main focus now. I am also into aggressive skating and surfing when I get some freetime.
