Isabelle FerradaIsabelle Ferrada, or ‘Izzy’, has been BMX racing since the age of 4. Her brother Michael was a very successful racer and Izzy just followed in his footsteps.

Now age 13 and living in Milton Keynes, Izzy is a very determined young Girlracer whose goal is to race for Team GB in the 2016 Olympics. Now racing in the BMX National Racing Series for 13-15 year old girls, Izzy is currently lying 3rd, even though she is the baby of the class. In the Regional Series, she is leading the 13 year old boys – racing against the girls wasn’t challenging enough!

With many Regional Championships already to her credit, Izzy became BMX National Series Champion in 2008 in the 10-12 year old Girl class. She has since followed this up becoming 2008/9 East Anglia Winter Series Champion – again racing against boys!

Izzy has ridden for Great Britain in the European and World Championships and will be competing in the European Championships in Denmark in July 2009. Her favourite place to ride is the Cheddar International BMX track because, as she says…’it’s downhill, tarmac and VERY FAST!’ This should stand her in good stead later this year when she races in European Championship rounds and the British Championship which will be held there.

Her success has led to many accolades, including becoming a Milton Keynes Sports Achiever and Award Winner at the Pride in MK Awards. It has also led to her becoming sponsored by the BMX Racing Team Champions of the last 3 years AlansBMX. She was presented with her 2008 Trophy by World BMX Champion Shanaze Reade and Olympic Gold Medallist Jamie Staff.

Away from the BMX track, Izzy has been a member of the U17 Driving Club and has been driving cars since the age of 9! Before she ended her membership of the club last year, due to her BMX racing commitments, Izzy had reached Grade 5 and would happily drive her Dad’s Lotus at Castle Combe at 70mph!

Izzy’s personal motivations are seeing her brother Michael, Stephen Murray and the film ‘BMX Bandits’. Her favourite tune to ride to is ‘Glamour for Better’ by Shape Cutting Catalyst. Her favourite quotation is the one Olympic Gold Medallist Nicole Cooke swears and wins by…’Pain is Temporary. Glory is Everlasting’.

Girlracer supports Izzy in BMX racing. All her news can be easily found by entering ‘Ferrada’ in the Search Box on the Girlracer Homepage.
