Anya ColleyI am one of the few girls who compete in Jet Ski Racing.

I am British, European & World Champion.  Infact I am 7 times World Champion now.  This year (Oct 2009) in Arizona, USA I took the title of Amateur Ski Open World Champion and Expert Ski Limited World Champion competing against the men and I would like to just add I am the first girl to ever win these titles!  Girl Power!

Anya ColleyI am 17 years old and I have been riding a ski for leisure since I was five years old – I started out an old Kawasaki  550.

However  in 2004 whilst on holiday with my family I went to watch a Jet Ski race and fell in love with racing. So after persuading my parents  that racing was a good idea I entered my first race in 2005 aged  12 years and I loved it and haven’t looked back since. I have had some amazing times, met some great people and raced in some wonderful places….all over the UK and Europe, Russia, Croatia, USA and Thailand.

I currently ride a Hydrospace S4 jet ski which I love, she has 140 horse power  and is a 750cc 2 cylinder  turbo charged  baby and to date on this ski I have won 7 IJSBA World Titles, the UIM European Ladies Title, the British Limited Title, the Pro/Am Open title at the Kings Cup in Thailand and the 2009  Moroccan Night race.

Jet Ski Racing is mainly male dominated – in many of the racers that I take part in there are not enough ladies for a ladies class (sometimes I am the only lady!) so I race with the men which I don’t mind at all but would to see more ladies in the sport so come on girls.  I am known as ‘the pink lady’ and as you can guess from that I ride in pink!  I promote Girl Power as much as I can and  I was the first girl to represent GB in juniors in Europe, I was the first girl to take the top girl junior award at the World Finals in Arizona in 2005, I was the first girl to win the British Junior (winter) Championship and I was the first girl to ever win the IJSBA Junior World Title, the Amateur Ski Open and the  Expert Ski Limited World Titles to name  but a few of my Girl Power achievements!

I am very lucky to have the full support of my family and my wonderful parents who have certainly had to change their lives to help me live my dream!  I have also been lucky enough to have the support of an amazing coach and great friend Laurent Boucher of B7sport in France and two great mechanics – my dad and Les Cooke in Australia and my soul mate James Bushell of 158racing.  I greatly appreciate all the help from my sponsors – which is invaluable
