Straight after my first lesson at Sheffield dry ski slope back in 2002, I knew snowboarding was for me!
Soon after my lessons were over I went on my first snowboard holiday to Val D’Isere over xmas and from there my passion for the mountains grew.
For the first 3 years I just went on 1 or 2 holidays a year and never really experienced any UK riding. Then at the end of 2006 I started visiting Castleford xscape and started getting interested in freestyle, getting a bit of air time off baby kickers and learning 50:50’s on small boxes.
In the summer of 2006 I entered my first competition at my local dry slope and was petrified! It went well though considering and I came 2nd out of 4 and won a ton of goodies. This spurred me on to enter more competitions which as well as helping push my riding means I get to catch up with friends from all parts of the country that share the same passion.
In the last couple of years I’ve really been pushing my riding with the help of my sponsors and plenty of snow time and have achieved some good results, namely
• Oct 2009 – British Indoor Slopestyle Champion • Sep 2009 – British Dryslope Championships, Big Air & Slopstyle, 3rd Place • Jul 2009 – FBBB tour winner, Tamworth snowdome • Jun 2009 – Dawn of the Shred, MK, 2nd Place • Oct 2008 & Oct 2007 – Westbeach Snowflex Series Champion • Sept 2008 – British Indoor Slopestyle & Big Air Championships, 2nd Place • May 2008 – Fat Face Slopestyle Champion • Feb 2008 – King of the Rail Champion, Whistler, Canada
The last 3 years I’ve done seasons in Mayrhofen, Whistler and Morzine and this year have plans in place to go to Tahoe for 3 months and ride Northstar, which is gonna be sick!
We’re lucky in the UK to have some amazing indoor snowdomes that keep me sane during the summer months. I ride at my local slopes, mainly Xscape Castleford, Tamworth Snowdome and Rossendale dryslope a couple of times of week whilst working and saving hard for the winter!
Big thanks to Matt at Ride, Jay at Dr Zipe, Darren & Lorraine at Subvert and to John......
