I'm Paige, I'm 17 years old and I have been snowboarding for around 2 and a half years.
I first learnt to snowboard on a Summer Camp, at my local Sno!Zone, Milton Keynes. This was one of the best weeks, and I hit my first rail on my second day of the camp, it was quite sketchy though ! From then on I haven't looked back at learning to snowboard and love it more and more as time goes by !
After a few weeks I started to attend 'Thursday/Friday Park Sessions' where I met some other girls who were really good riders and helped me to start hitting more rails and learning new tricks. In able to carry on snowboarding, I used to volunteer at the Sno!Zone, in return for free slope use.
Whilst at school I carried on riding at MK, trying to get away when I could, to places such as Laax and Deux Alpes. This season though (08/09) after finishing my GCSE'S I decided to head out to Morzine to do my first season. Out in Morzine I didn't do very many competitions apart from the Battle of Waterloo AM comp, in which I was First Girl Rookie Rider . Whilst in Morzine I was really happy with my progression of riding , from my general riding right through to kicker riding.
Now back in the UK riding at MK and the brand new slope at Hemel, I am aiming to do alot more competitions this season, whilst studying Media at College and working in TSA. So far I have had a good start, with being the youngest finalist /coming second in the 'Snow and Skate Jam.'
Indoor camps such as Maverix are helping me to try and progress my riding even further. I am looking to get away as much as I can this season, with my main focus this year on the Brits at the end of March in Laax.
